Kindness: A Banded Peak Pillar

Posted on

Banded Peak has big hearts!  This week, Feb 10 to 14th, they have been visible through all the acts of kindness happening each day.  Notes of support, positivity and care have been shared through buddies and in displays across the school.  These acts of kindness are incredibly important in fostering positive relationships, promoting emotional growth, and creating a healthier social environment. By encouraging kindness daily and building a culture of kindness, we create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that makes students feel safe and valued.  Our students’ sense of belonging can boost student self-esteem and confidence and ultimately enhance academic success.  Kindness at Banded Peak also helps students practice crucial skills like empathy, respect, and understanding and teaches important values such as compassion, generosity, and fairness.  It fosters cooperation and helps students develop a sense of responsibility toward others. Buddies, our House system, Student Leadership, our grade configuration all lends themselves to explicit opportunities for students to grow this skill across the grades. In essence, kindness contributes to a more harmonious learning community, where students can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically and this is why it is a PBIS pillar in our school Reach for the PEAK matrix.

On Monday we welcome students back from our short February break with a presentation by magician Steve Harmer and Motivational Magic. The theme of this show is Kindness and Gratitude and be believe that it will be an exceptional way to kick off our PBIS - Reach for the Peak matrix as well echo the week's important message of Anti-bullying and kindness. Pink Shirt Day is on Wednesday. So find a Pink shirt, wear it on Wednesday and join us all as we stand up against bullying! Finally, a reminder, to encourage your child to get involved in designing this year's Yearbook Cover! Details are included in the poster included in this week's Gazette.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone,

Mrs Moore
