Winter Market Details are here!

Posted on

We are excited to invite the Banded Peak learning community to this year's Winter Market and "Gingerbread Village' on Thursday, December 12th. Please reference the invite below for all the important details regarding activities, performances and event timing. This Banded Peak Christmas tradition is an entire school celebration of student learning, community and the festive holiday season.

In the spirit of giving, the grade 1&2 classes in addition to our Leadership students have organized a service project called "Love and Warmth" (see the poster below).  Inspired by the Love of the Eagle from the Seven Sacred Teachings, the grade 1 & 2 students wanted to offer their love and warmth to other children and families over the holidays. As such, they reached out to the Project Warmth, an Alberta based charity, that collects new or gently used winter essentials to be distributed to people in need. When the Leadership students volunteered at the Airdrie Food Bank on Nov 19th, they were inspired by the staff and volunteers that gave their time and energy to support community members that were having a challenging time making ends meet.  When they asked the Director what the Airdrie Food Bank was most in need of, she answered that goods for a Christmas dinner were the highest priority, especially turkeys.  Their desire to share the love and help struggling families meshed perfectly with the grade 1/2s want to collect for families struggling to stay warm this winter.  Thus, the "Love and Warmth" project was born. Detailed information is provided below and please talk to your child about the love portion of this project as each class has been assigned category of food items that they are encouraged to collect (also included below).

Please know that participation in this project is optional and any donation is appreciated.

*We ask that all donations be delivered to school by Thursday, December 12th, 2024Frozen Turkeys can be brought to the Winter Concert and Market on the evening of December 12th, 2024 (5 p.m. – 7 p.m.), as storing frozen turkeys before then will be very challenging.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Moore
