Blink and its done....

As we reflect on the hard work and achievement of our learners and school, it is hard to believe that another school year is ending.  It seems like just yesterday that the school year began. However, we only need to step into the hall to see the growth and change that has happened over the past ten months.  Students are taller; they are more competent and confident in their academics; they are comfortable and assured of routines; they are thriving with their peers, and they are excited for upcoming summer adventures.  Summer provides a well-deserved break for our students and staff.  We hope that it is full of exploration, play and joy for all.  This is important in recharging and being ready to reengage in the busyness that is the fall and the new learning and experiences that a new grade brings.

Before we officially break for summer, we would like to share several updates.  One constant in terms of school is ‘change’.  As we bid adieu to one group of students, moving onto new adventures in high school, we welcome new students into our Family of Friends.  The same holds true for our staff.  We will be saying ‘Goodbye’ to Mrs. Ceranic, and Mrs. Hammad who both joined us this past year.  Thank you for sharing your passion, care and commitment to learning with us.  As well, Mrs. Fortmuller, who has been a cornerstone in this learning community for the past six years, will also be leaving us. Thank you, Mrs. Fortmuller, for your commitment, leadership and unwavering pursuit of excellence for students.  Each of you will be missed and we wish them the best as they move on to other educational assignments and life adventures.  In the fall, we will be welcoming back Mrs. Campbell, our music specialist, returning from a parental leave, as well as Mrs.  Summerscales, back in a different capacity, and joining our grade 7/8 team. An additional hire remains to be solidified but they will be joining our 5/6 team in the fall.

Finally, Mr. Dupre and I would like to thank our school community for their ongoing support. You have made our first year at Banded Peak a rich and rewarding experience.  With your help, we have enjoyed a fun, exciting, and engaging year of learning.  One that challenged students to look for solutions to complex problems, think beyond their classrooms and our community, and one that encouraged student leadership, cooperation, and collaboration.  For all of this, we are grateful, and we look forward to continuing this work together next year.

Have a wonderful summer!

Mrs. Moore and Mr. Dupre
