Steps, Milestones, and Memories: A Week to Remember at Banded Peak

Posted on

What a fantastic week it has been here at Banded Peak!

Our Grade 7 and 8 students embarked on their overnight hiking adventures this week, and what an incredible experience it was! I had the absolute pleasure of joining the Grade 8 trip, and I have to say—what a time we had. The scenery was breathtaking, the teamwork was inspiring, and the leadership shown by our students was nothing short of amazing. And of course, there was no shortage of fun! I’ll admit I came back with a few blisters and some sore muscles, but it was so worth it. Our students truly shined in this alternative learning environment, and I found myself learning just as much from them as they did from the experience.

A huge thank you to Mr. Churchill, Mr. George, Mr. Dupre, Mrs. Fortmuller, and Mrs. Moore for taking on the adventure with our students. And to our wonderful parent volunteers—your time, support, and energy made these trips possible. For those of you who joined us on the trail, it was such a pleasure getting to know you better!

Meanwhile, our Kindergarten students wrapped up their year with a memorable field trip to Granary Road and celebrated their graduation with a joyful send-off to Grade 1. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Williamson for all the love and hard work she poured into both the trip and the graduation event. And thank you to the many parents who joined us to mark this special milestone—we couldn’t have done it without you.

Our Grade 6 students completed their final Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) on Wednesday, marking the end of a significant chapter. We are incredibly proud of their maturity, focus, and positive attitudes throughout the entire testing process. Parents—thank you for the time, effort, and encouragement you provided to help them succeed. You should be very proud!

The Ribbon Shirts and Skirts wrapped up last week, and the clothing that was constructed was absolutely incredible. Each piece reflected the creativity, care, and cultural pride of its maker, showcasing vibrant colors, meaningful designs, and a deep sense of tradition. It was clear that a true sense of pride went into every stitch, and the results were nothing short of inspiring. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our families who attended these events throughout the year—your continued support and participation have made these gatherings truly special.

Looking ahead, next week will be our final week of the school year, with our last day with students on Wednesday. Although it’s a short week, it will be action-packed with field trips, assemblies, and leadership activities to celebrate a year of growth and achievement.

Have a wonderful weekend, and we can’t wait to enjoy one last amazing week with our kiddos starting Monday.

Warmly,

Mr. Dupre
