Welcome one and all!

Posted on

One of the things I love most about the start of a new school year is the vibrant energy and joyful hum that fills our building once again. This past week at Banded Peak was a beautiful reminder of that! Our staggered entry days created a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to reconnect, rekindle relationships, and warmly welcome new faces to our learning community.

A special highlight was watching each student leave their mark—literally!—by placing their handprint in their house colour on our new tipi. We’re so excited to raise it later this month as a symbol of unity and belonging. It’s just one of the many ways we continue to build a strong, connected community here at Banded Peak.

Thursday and Friday brought us all together, and it was heartwarming to see the smiles, hear the laughter, and feel the excitement as we launched into the school year. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with Mr. Dupre and me—it was truly a pleasure to hear about your summer adventures and reconnect.

We’re thrilled to welcome many new students and families to our school—welcome to Banded Peak! As we settle into routines, we want to ensure you’re connected and informed. Here are two key communication tools we’ll be using this year:

  • Grizzly Gazette: Our weekly newsletter will be sent out every Friday via email from either Mr. Dupre or myself. You can also find it anytime on our website: https://bandedpeak.rockyview.ab.ca. It’s a great way to stay updated on school events, important dates, and more—so be sure to check it out regularly!
  • Facebook: Follow us on Facebook for snapshots of school life, reminders, and celebrations throughout the year.

For our new families, please take a moment to register on School Cash Online at https://rockyview.schoolcashonline.com. This is where you’ll manage field trip forms, fees, and more. A helpful tip: use your child’s PowerSchool number, not their ASN, when registering. If you have any questions, Mrs. Dzeryk in the front office is happy to help.

We’re off to a fantastic start, and I’m so excited for all the learning, growth, and fun ahead. Thank you for being part of our incredible community!

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
