Time is flying....

It’s been a busy and exciting week of teaching and learning at Banded Peak as students and staff continue preparing for year-end activities, field trips, and celebrations. At this time of year, we also take the opportunity to review and evaluate the goals outlined in our School Education Plan (SEP) and begin planning ahead for the upcoming school year. A key focus for our staff throughout this year has been our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) work, highlighted by the rollout of our "Reach for the Peak" matrix. As a collective, we have made significant progress, and our recent Tiered Fidelity Inventory confirms that we have successfully implemented key components of PBIS. We are now actively planning next steps to further grow consistent, predictable, and safe inclusive spaces across our school community. To that end, we are asking for your help. As we reflect and plan forward, parent voice is an important part of the process. We invite families of students in Grades 4–8 to complete the OurSCHOOL Parent Survey. Your feedback helps guide our planning and supports ongoing school improvement. More information about the survey is available below. Walk-a-thon information was shared with families yesterday - have a look for it in your child's backpack! This is our major fundraiser of the year and we appreciate all families support. Volunteers for this event are needed! If you can join us June 6th and volunteer, please go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0D48ABAD28A3FB6-banded to sign up. Finally, congratulations to our grade 7 student athletes on their outstanding performance at the Divisional Track and Field day. An extra shout out to Hugo for finishing 2nd in the 3000m, and high jump; James got 2nd in long jump and the 400m; Marc was 1st in shot put, and 9th in 100m; Emil was 4th in triple jump; Seth was 7th in discus; Delta, Olive and Julian all made the hurdles finals. Well done Grizzlies! Check out the track day's photos!
On Tuesday, May 20th, the business of school returns as we have events happening every day or evening. Tuesday at 6:30pm is School Council's AGM. As always, everyone is welcome and free child minding is available. Wednesday is our Indigenous Creations night. I am excited to see the progress on all of the beautiful ribbon skirts and shirts that our students and families are making. Thursday, we welcome our newest cubs and their families to the Banded Peak learning community at our Kinder Open House from 5:30-6:30pm. More details are included in the poster below. Friday, I am excited to share, Knowledge Keeper, Hal Eagletail, will begin painting our new tipi in the gymnasium. A design has been set, paint colours selected and painting time arranged. We are excited to see the final product and look forward to its first raising in the new school year.
Have a wonderful long weekend,
Mrs Moore
