Ducks in a Row

Posted on

We could not have planned it better. The fresh snow this past week was a blessing for our grade 3/4 outdoor school!. Students had a blast cross country skiing on the new powder and it acted as fluffy padding for Mr Dupre's epic wipe out! Rumour has it that Mr Spelrem and his class put Mr Dupre through the paces before his big fall! There may even be photos so stay tuned! In addition to the skiing, the snow play and eventually puddle jumping made for great fun and a lot of soggy clothes! A big thank you to those students who helped with shovelling throughout the week- not only is this a great workout but it was so helpful to Mrs Boersen and Mr Mapantay. Well done Grizzlies!

Mid March to mid April in RVS is fondly known as survey month, over the next four weeks we will be conducting two surveys. As I shared earlier in the week, we will be collecting feedback from grade 4 and 7 families and students as well as all teachers for Alberta Education. Once this is completed and we will share an OurSCHOOL parent survey to all families. This survey will help us capture parent perceptions about areas of Banded Peak's school climate that are critical to student success. Both these survey help us get our "ducks in a row" as their results help to inform our SEP and plan for next year. So I thank you in advance for taking time to share your feedback and helping us grow as a learning community.

Next week may be short but it is jam packed with activities. Reminder, Monday is a school based professional learning day so no school for students. Teachers will be engaging in the work of our SEP and exploring new resources and opportunities that will enhance learning here at Banded Peak. Tuesday the gym is busy early with badminton, basketball at lunch and after school. This remains the same for Wednesday and Thursday as well in addition to having Collaborative Conferences from 4-7pm both evenings. Please book using this link to make an appointment and we look forward to seeing you there! Friday is our STEAM showcase from 9:00am- 12:25pm. We hope families will be able to stop in and check out the hard work of our grade 5&6 students. This showcase is the culmination of months of student learning and hard work! Our Jr B teams will also be in action at their second tournament in as many weekends. A huge thank you to Mr Churchill and Mr George for coaching badminton; Mrs Sudar and Mr Dupre for coaching the Grade 6 teams, Mrs Winters and Mrs Wicktor-Neumeister for coaching the Jr B Girls Bball and me (Mrs Moore) for taking on the Jr B Boys Bball. All of these coaches volunteer their time to share their passion and expertise with our students! We are so grateful for their commitment!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone,

Mrs Moore
