Appreciation and Gratitude

Posted on

We began the week with a HUGE thank you to our incredible bus drivers as we celebrated Bus Driver Appreciation Day. We are so grateful for this small but mighty team that ensures our students arrive safely to and from school each day, no matter the weather. This week has also been Teacher Appreciation Week, and our staff has truly felt spoiled by the kindness and thoughtfulness of our learning community. A heartfelt thank you to our School Council for organizing a delicious staff lunch on Wednesday and for the fun, personalized gifts of God/Goddess name sashes and laurel wreaths. You may have noticed our teachers fully embraced the spirit of celebration, donning togas and enjoying the festivities. Thanks to the generosity of our families, teachers also had the opportunity to shop for much-needed supplies—a wonderful initiative organized by the School Council. We are deeply thankful to all our families for their continued support, generosity, and the many ways they show appreciation. Your gifts of kindness, time, and resources mean so much to us.

It’s also been a busy week of learning and adventure: on Wednesday, our Grade 1/2 students enjoyed a presentation from Alberta Forests; on Thursday, our kindergarteners learned all about bugs and their importance from Lady Buggy; and on Friday, our Grade 7/8 students took part in their school track and field day while our Grade 5/6 students explored Two Pine on a hike. What a week to be grateful for! This Saturday, we wish Aidan and Logan good luck as they represent Rocky View Schools at the South Central Zones Badminton Championships. Go Grizzlies!

As I mentioned above, we are so grateful for the work of our School Council. As such, I would like to thank this year's School Council Executive: Rebecca Parzen, Ainslie Campbell, Willow Carriere, Elaine Greene and Tova Schaefer for all of their hard work and unfailing support. The School Council plays an instrumental role in sharing parent voice, fundraising and creating community. Tuesday, May 20th at 6:30pm is Council's AGM and I know there are executive vacancies. If you are interested in putting your name forward or getting more information, please do not hesitate to reach out to the executive via schoolcouncilbp@gmail.com. As always, everyone is welcome and free child minding is available. As well, Walk-a-thon information will be shared with families next week - watch for it in your child's backpack! This is our major fundraiser of the year and we appreciate all families support. Volunteers for this event are needed! If you can join us June 6th and volunteer, please go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0D48ABAD28A3FB6-banded to sign up.

Next week is a quiet week in the sense that there are no field trips or presentations. We wish our grade 7 track and field athletes well as they compete on Thursday at Divisionals. Friday is our last professional learning day of the year so enjoy the extra long weekend as Monday is Victoria Day. We look forward to seeing everyone back May 20th!

Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend,

Mrs Moore
