Our Winter Wonderland
Posted onBanded Peak is a truly magical place to be with all the beautiful snow that has been falling over the past week. However, with this winter weather comes the need for additional precautions that we need to be taken including the clothes we wear. Please ensure that your child has a good pair of winter boots. Unbelievably to me, the snow in our playground field is already half the way up my shin and as I understand it, the snow season is just beginning. Additionally, please ensure they bring snow pants, gloves/mittens, and toque as classes are continuing to go outside to play to learn and play. All students must be dressed for the weather. Please talk to your child about what this looks like for them. For the most part our students do a great job; however, our grade 7/8 students require some encouragement to dress for the weather! As well, I encourage everyone to "walk like a penguin" when on the sidewalks around the building to avoid slip and falls. We are doing our best to clear the sidewalks but slippery spots still exist and the snow continues to fall.
We are busy preparing for the Winter Market on December 12 from 5-7pm. This year's theme revolves around a "Gingerbread Village" and more details will follow once confirmed. However, as we prepare we have identified a few needs: Firepits with propane tanks and a large chair that we might be able to borrow for Santa. If you have any of these items that we may borrow, please let me know and we will make arrangements to pick up and return on the 13th.
Next week is a relatively quiet week for student events with Healthy Hunger (orders close midnight on Sunday) on Friday from Edo and a House assembly later that afternoon.
Have a great weekend everyone,
Jody
